Here we are today to talk about the first release that DidJaws, an electronic music producer from France, issued through the (in)famous Crem Road record label, after a while and several releases issued elsewhere.
The album was released back in 2016 but still worth a listen, especially due to the very idiosyncratic way DidJaws uses to compose and record music. This is a strange brew, mixing some of the most popular aspects of contemporary electronic music, such as dubstep, with strange harmonies and melodies that contemporary classical composers, like, say, Pierre Boulez, would have not considered as uninteresting.
The first track, "Darkbass", is a perfect example of this, mixing IDM and Dubstep in a very interesting an pleasant way. With its square, on time drum beat, it's sure highly energizing music.
The releases continues with five other tracks very similar in the style ; always innovating while still sounding familiar. A nice point to notice is the great dynamics of all this, with calm turning to storm turning to calm turning to storm again, and, as a result, you never get bored.
Another very important thing in the aesthetic that DidJaws built over years, is the choice of the synthetic sounds used in his work, somehow sounding vintage, while the whole result remains hyper-modern. As a good music sorcerer, he sure knows how to work to hit the bull's eye and deserve much attention.
The overall result is not that far that what does Still Living Creature, and man can understand why they are both on the same netlabel.
The release finally ends in some kind of ambient influence, completing the panel of colourful atmospheres that are constituting it.
To sum up, a very interesting work that you should definitively check.
