Got mail today. A new album from The NIGHTCHILD.
Probably one of the few best bands currently active, without any consideration of style and genre. They simply rock, and over years I rarely encountered such good band. It's, well, The NIGHTCHILD, the real and original incredible goth/new wave act (with a light postpunk touch), coming through internet from Ukraine to your ears, your brain, your guts and heart !
I discovered them back in the beginning of the 10's decade, and I've been immediately blown away ! Tracks like "Closer" are just atemporal anthems that you must keep jealously like precious diamonds in your vault ! And what about this new album ? It is perfect. Coloured, while still heavily stamped with the intrinsic spirit, inimitable style of this awesome band, it's just the perfect soundtrack for nowadays.
I said coloured, because you never get bored. The album borrows many influences, in the classic roots of *that* rock'n'roll thing, from the Rolling Stones to Johnny Thunders, from The Lords of the New Church to... Oh, just think of any of these artists who are just possessed by the boiling talent that flows and burn their hands when they touch a guitar, a keyboard or a bass guitar... The total implication of human beings devoted to their art can really be observed when listening to this opus.
The vampire voice of Olexiy Nikitchenko is perfect and perfectly fitting with the overall excellent arrangements and composing ; also, this is very well performed, and efficiently recorded and produced. I think that, to enter their 15th year of existence, The NIGHTCHILD are, with this album, just delivering a masterpiece, ready to compete in your "best album ever" top list !
The release, while open-licensed under a Creative Commons licence (as usual), which allows you to distribute or air it for noncommercial purposes, is currently sold on a popular web music distribution service (see the "release link" nearby this review) ; I guess many people will want to support the band and show their appreciation by buying it. You can give it a listen for free as well, and I bet you'll agree with the general opinion I tried to express in my review. May they keep on releasing such gems for a long, long time (which is running fast).
